school mission statement competition

The children, staff and governors agreed a new mission statement for our school and the children decided to design a logo.

Love God.

Love learning.

Love each other.

We had 90 entries. After Easter the children voted and made the decision as to which we shall be using in our school, on letterhead and website.

The link below shows photos of the entries.

Reading in Unusual Places

We launched our new reading scheme last half term and children have responded brilliantly to the new books.

Rarely a day goes by when there isn’t a knock at my door and children are showing me the work they have done at home by choosing one of the activities found in the back of the books.

In order to promote our new reading scheme and encourage children to lose themselves in books, we invited them to submit a photograph of themselves reading in an unusual place.

The whole school decided that they would vote. Each class submitted their votes and the final count revealed the winners.

We had five winners whose photos are below.

Other entries included those below and several are on display on both the Trinity and Rosehill sites.

Well done to everyone who made the effort to help us promote reading.

Apollo Art Competition

IMG_0091Last half term all the children were given the opportunity to enter an art competition organised by Apollo Teaching Agency.

100 schools across the whole of the north east were invited to participate in this competition.

It was a wonderful to discover that a pupil at our school was voted the outright winner across the region. Steve and Liam, who came to present the winning prize, commented that it had been a unanimous decision to award the overall prize to Gene Lendon in Y5.

Here is Gene receiving his prize and also the amazing piece of art he submitted.

Congratulations, Gene!
